    Dr. Baker

As I prepare to leave Hickory, it is with mixed emotions. GHCCM gets “in the blood”. This agency is special in so many ways. The mission is from Matthew 25 and as the HDR stated in their “Thumbs Up” on April 27th, we do unique things to help hurting people in Catawba County. Whether it is food, clothes, utilities, or health care, CCM is the place where thousands come for a hand up or just to make it through difficult days. So many people are now unemployed or under employed that never dreamed they would need some assistance. The many partnerships make it possible to provide significant services. I am always surprised that so many people do not know about all CCM does to help folks and to assist people from other social services. In 2008, the HDR called CCM “the Hub Organization” of Catawba County because so many people and agencies depended on us. The numbers continue to grow. Unemployment is still the number one problem. The agency has a great volunteer Board, competent and dedicated staff, and wonderful volunteers. I encourage all citizens of Catawba County to lend their support through donations of dollars, time, and talent. CCM is a volunteer driven agency. I appreciate the many citizens that volunteer in the various areas of CCM, they are caring and have a heart for others.

    Blessings,
    Roger Baker, Ed.D.
    Executive Director 2007-2013
