Food, shelter or medicine

No gift is too small or too large. Over 33,000 Catawba County citizens have to choose between hunger, home, or health every day. Your support can make a difference. Every $5 you give is providing someone with so much more…a bag of groceries, another month of housing, a much needed bottle of insulin. For giving options click on the quick link “How can you help?”

Honor Cards

How to Help

Your gifts of time, talents and treasure make it possible to reach more people in our community who are homeless, hungry, unemployed, have no health insurance, or experiencing financial difficulties. Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry is known as “The Hub Organization” because we serve the clients of most other nonprofits in the area. Support of GHCCM helps those being served by other agencies, such as Red Cross, Safe Harbor Rescue Mission, Salvation Army, ECCCM, Habitat for Humanity, Flynn Christian Home, Exodus Homes, Women's Resource Center, Family Guidance Center, Soup Kitchens, and so forth.

The idea of a cooperative Christian ministry began in 1968 when a group of ministers in the Hickory Ministerial Association suggested the formation of an organization to help individuals and groups for crisis assistance.  Churches were interested in making sure that their resources were used to provide maximum assistance to those in need and that through cooperation these resources would provide for greater numbers being served. Matthew 25 was the guiding principle for the establishment of Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry (GHCCM) as a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization. Our goal is to practice what Jesus taught. The two requirements to be a member church, in our founding documents, include acceptance of Jesus Christ and financial support. Most member churches have GHCCM as a line item in their budget as an outreach arm of their ministry.

We welcome churches to consider supporting GHCCM! We are pleased to be available for presentations at our supporting churches and those interested in finding out more about what we do. Contact us for more information.

Time and Talents

Many of our most significant contributions come from medical professionals and trained volunteers who donate time and services to GHCCM Health Care and Crisis Intervention Services. To get involved, visit our "Volunteer Positions" page.

Treasure

Every dollar you invest in Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry has a return of $8.00 worth of services for people in Catawba County. Our administrative overhead is less than 8%, which means that 92 cents of every dollar goes directly to the people we serve.

We welcome gifts of all types and will work with you and your financial advisors to maximize the tax benefits for you and the value of your gift to the organization. Many rooms and areas have plaques in honor of individuals, groups, and businesses that have made significant contributions to the Ministry. Click here for plaque list. Naming opportunites still exist.
